It also pioneered Arkansas IDEAS which means Internet Delivered Education for Arkansas Schools. This is provided by Arkansas Online Professional Development Initiative, Arkansas Educational Television Network and Arkansas Department of Education. The mission of this project is to supply instructional programs and provide lifelong learning opportunities like programming and services through creative use of telecommunications. The aim is simply to educate, motivate and inspire the people of Arkansas to improve and enhance their lives with innovations on its channel of education which is just within their reach. Arkansas focused on developing teacher’s knowledge and teaching methodology by offering Mathlink and Arkansas Standards for Professional Development. Ten schools were recently appointed to participate in a five year grant funded pilot program. The selection was made by Arkansas Advanced Initiative for Math and Science to increase student participation and scores in advanced placement math, science, and English preparatory courses. This is expected to move Arkansas forward in educational and economic development and increase state’s per capita income.
