Idaho public schools need improving and may not be doing a good job. The National Center for public policy just gave Idaho a D+ grade. Legislature recently clarified procedures for starting new community college districts where they were also provided incentive start up funds. Idaho Department of Education reached a one of a kind alternative action plan to answer problems on teacher shortages. It just allowed the State to rehire retired Idaho teachers without risking retirement benefits. Idaho teachers’ health insurance also developed a new policy on maintaining high quality benefits and coverage of employees which includes extended coverage to uninsured spouses and dependents. IEA Idaho Education Association also developed a weTeach compensation plan to attract and retain highly qualified teachers. The plan however requires them to create an individual plan based on proven research regarding assessment of teacher’s impact on students’ development. The weTeach plan supports professional development of Idaho teachers by giving base flexibility on teachers bonus pay when they work to obtain additional education. This is intended to refine present education system. A breakthrough on PTA investments, Idaho PTA earns cash whenever purchases were made through their online shopping mall. This is a sort of fundraising for the PTA which made them earn cash backs on every purchase made to merchants through their online store. Never stopping at anything for progress, Idaho Teachers Continuing Education built a website of comprehensive listing of teacher’s workshops, conferences and courses for any interested teachers personal consumption. Idaho is a very rural place but it never stop to pursue for programs that will promote professional development for their teachers.
