Summary:

Indiana Department of Education in partnership with Purdue University College of Science established INSCITED to address Indiana Academic Science Standards as a way to teach teachers some techniques in making science kind of fun and meaningful learning process. The state will also serve as a pilot test bed for national program funded by Lilly Endowment through the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation. The program was created to improve teacher’s quality and the education schools that teach them. The state believes that students that excel result from quality teaching practices given by teachers of quality. The goal of the program is to develop and change how teachers are being educated in general to a more effective system of teaching that will definitely benefit the students as an end result. The state further created the position Coordinator of International Education to handle communication, state policies and any other issues related to international education in Indiana. Center Grove High School embraced technology in classrooms by providing teachers a classroom multimedia station which includes a computer, cable television with speakers, wireless chalkboard, document camera and a DVD/VCR player. It has a centralized control panel for ease in control and coordinating activities. Centro Grove also posed a pilot project for Epsilen Environment which is an online social network for academic file sharing among K12 teachers originally designed for higher education. Not only that, Indiana State Teacher’s Retirement Fund is way above the national average which reached a 93.5% funding status followed by an 18.17% investment return rate in 2007. Indiana State Department of Education is very sensitive to the needs of the teachers, act on them, extending outstanding support and getting funding to implement development programs.
