Iowa Department of Education facilitates and promotes quality USDA Child Nutrition Programs. This was created to benefit the education, health and well being of the students by extending offers to after school snack programs. The Department of Education also offers free web classroom learning sponsored by Des Moines, Iowa Computer Repair, Iowa Business Web hosting and a lot more other business enterprise interested in building Iowa education system. The first option is the online learning hosted courses and the second is the development lab. The student only need to key in the name of the course and the place, schedule and other information where to take the course are then be supplied. They are all self study courses for students who want to improve their skills and continue education at their free time. Iowa Department of Education sponsored a variety of Professional Development Teacher Awards and Exchange Programs. One of the exchange programs is Teach in Taiwan. An agreement was made between Iowa Department of Education and Ministry of Education of the Republic of China (Taiwan) to offer Iowa teachers to teach in their place for one academic year. Another exchange program offered is the Visiting teachers from Spain Program where visiting certified Spanish language teachers are allowed to teach in Iowa’s Spanish classes for a maximum of three years. One of the Spanish educator’s qualifications shall be at least two years classroom teaching experience. Teachers’ shortage areas in Iowa are designated by the Iowa Department of Education every year. Teachers in shortage areas are qualified for college forgivable loans. This is process through the state and federal programs. The Iowa PTA officers and board members are automatically considered as volunteers at the local council, state and national level. It is the country’s largest volunteer organization. It created a Reflections program which promotes arts in education. The program was created to encourage originality among students and involves all grade levels.
