Another exchange program offered is the Visiting teachers from Spain Program where visiting certified Spanish language teachers are allowed to teach in Iowa’s Spanish classes for a maximum of three years. One of the Spanish educator’s qualifications shall be at least two years classroom teaching experience. Teachers’ shortage areas in Iowa are designated by the Iowa Department of Education every year. Teachers in shortage areas are qualified for college forgivable loans. This is process through the state and federal programs. The Iowa PTA officers and board members are automatically considered as volunteers at the local council, state and national level. It is the country’s largest volunteer organization. It created a Reflections program which promotes arts in education. The program was created to encourage originality among students and involves all grade levels.
