Summary:

North Carolina established NC Standard Course of Study as a guide for teachers. It provides content area for each grade and high school course to ensure uniform rigorous academic performance standard. NC Teach II was established to help improve North Carolina student’s achievement. The site is funded by U.S. Department of Education Transition to Teaching grant. The organization works to recruit and prepare teachers to teach in high-need schools for a minimum of three years. This program allows staffing of teachers without appropriate preparation or licensure in an effort to give students full academic instructions despite belonging to a high-need school. North Carolina established the NC School Report Cards website to make it easier for parents and students to browse and decide which school they want to enroll. A map search is provided to perform search for a school by simply using regional maps. North Carolina also allows public high school students to earn college credits through their Learn and Earn Online Initiative. Qualified students may take a variety of online college credit courses for free. Students at participating high schools may earn both high school and college credit for associate degree programs at the same time. The only requirement for schools is adequate internet connectivity to be able to participate. Learn NC also calls on teachers to write lesson plans using multi media on subjects of history, culture, literature and religion. The organization is offering to provide the multimedia materials and is asking teachers to provide the teaching ideas while being paid for their time. Learn NC also uses plug in from Firefox to access the site’s collection from the student’s desktop. It also provides workshop tools like animated demos to give more fun and exciting teaching and learning experience for teachers and students alike. Resources on courses for K12 were provided on the site. The North Carolina Teachers Academy is a professional development program for teachers to support continuous learning of NC teachers in order to develop their skills to enrich instruction and enhance student achievement. At North Carolina everything is feasible with the help of nonprofit organizations and business communities. Teachers are being trained and motivated to do more to their selves and to their career for a more effective teaching experience to students.
