Teacher’s loan forgiveness program requires employment or residence of at least two years in one of the state’s public schools for each year of the loan funding received. Tennessee believes that quality education is the right of every student and reaching out to each and every one of them is the greatest challenge of the officials supervising education in the state. Tennessee established the 21st century community learning centers in the form of grants open to programs that primarily serve students who have been identified for improvement. Competitive services are open for local educational agencies, community based organizations, faith-based groups, private or public organizations to even adult family members of the participating student. The project focus must be designed to help students meet local and state standards. The program must be based on rigorous scientific research of academic enrichment activities for the students. Activities like remedial education, tutoring and mentoring programs, counseling programs and many other programs in their list are preferred and shall be available and accessible as the school with the inclusion of safe transport of students to and from the center. Education lacking in necessary tools and equipment create delays and demands great coverage of time in search for information. Communication and installation of programs to make it operational is critical to the success of each child’s skill development. The state has provided Free Surplus Computer program to local education agencies. All surplus desktop and laptop computers have been sanitized and ready for software installation. A letter of request from an official of the school is required for the release of the units on a first come first serve basis. Tennessee also created the Work-Based Learning structured program. The activities help students to connect classroom learning to work. Work-Based Learning credit is earned through the regular class in which a student was officially enrolled. Business or industries offering WBL opportunities enhances related classroom knowledge of students by specific areas offered as noted in their WBL options.
